I've decided to start a new series called Manic Mondays!
Each Monday I will post a new idea to keep you from going manic when at home with your little ones.
If you're like me, dreading winter, getting bored of the four walls in my living room, looking for some ways to have some fun and not go crazy, then maybe we can work together to come up with some fun ideas!
The challenge for me will be having to come with something to do inside. Mondays are usually one day of the week I have nothing planned and usually even before Burkley's morning nap, I'm bored. Now, I'm all for going outside, and I probably will do that at some point today, but I can't be outside all day, especially when the weather is bad. And, let's face it, we're about to head into a delightfully Midwestern type of winter.
So, for today's activity, I Googled "Activities for One Year Olds." Clever, huh? The Internet really does have it all. And, I found this lovely idea. I admit, my kid might come up with this idea when he's older, but for now, with just a one year old, I'm the one who has to come up with the fun ideas sometimes.
So, I went for it. I tore all the pillows and cushions off the couch and threw them on the floor with gusto. Then, I grabbed the vacuum and cleaned the couch, which was much needed. Then, we resumed play. And it was so fun! He was laughing so much and really making good use of his developing gross motor skills. This activity actually lasted about a half hour, too, which was great for a one year old, I thought! :) It took him a good 15 minutes afterward to catch his breath, so I'm going to count this as excellent exercise as well as hilarious fun for my little guy.
Though we had fun, I'm not so sure what my dad would think...we won't tell him! ;)
Please share your Manic Monday ideas in the comments! Include a link if you've blogged about it! Help us all brainstorm ways to keep sane this winter.
