Please continue reading to learn more about Intuition Physician, which is offering our readers a giveaway of their latest cosleeping book, Together We Sleep, as well as Jake, A Guinea Pig Finds Adventure, a value of $34.

Laura Koniver, the person behind the name "Intuition Physician" is not just a doctor, she is a mother, and one whose motherhood completely changed her world.

On her website, she says, "Here I was used to dealing all day and night with these lovely, amazing, glowing souls that were my children… and then going in to see a patient as a 2-dimensional problem to solve. It sickened me on a deep level, to finally realize that each and every person on earth is as precious and valuable and eternal as my very own children, but then to just treat them medically on the surface."

Laura has found great success in combining her passion for the souls of people with her interest and talents in art and describes herself as a happy blur between an artist, a physician, a mother, and a soul.

About Together We Sleep

As Dr. Laura Koniver emphasizes throughout her website, making connections with children is of utmost importance. She wrote and illustrated this book to offer parents an opportunity to connect with their children at bedtime by reading a book about bedtime connections.

This book beautifully illustrates and describes the sleeping habits of animals throughout nature and uses wonderful vocabulary to do so (did you know that a group of seals is called a rookery?!). After several pages of animals sleeping, the book segues into how people throughout the world sleep. Many different cultures and living arrangements are shown, all of them with families sharing sleep together.

Not only did the book come beautifully wrapped in my mailbox, once opened, the beauty continued. The soothing rhythm of the story and the simple, yet colorful pictures are quite enjoyable.

The text offers many great discussion points and learning opportunities for small children; whether it be about different animals and where and how they live, or families of different cultures and where and how they live. The book is a great size for little hands too, and printed on sturdy paper that seems less likely to tear than some other children's books we have at home. The book is somewhat long, (fifty pages!) but each page has only a short line of text and is completely full of beautiful illustrations. The only drawback (if I were pressed to find one) is near the end of the story where it reads, "We live in homes." I can't help but assume that some of the book's readers do not live in homes, but live in some of the other dwellings described (apartments, RVs, etc.). It is something that can easily be discussed by the adult reading the story to the child, and maybe the author is meaning to imply that wherever a family lives, it is considered a "home."

All in all, this book is a wonderful addition to our collection. I try my best to only include children's books that jive with our parenting style and have been known to get rid of books that discuss or demonstrate parenting methods with which we disagree. This book is right up our alley and is describes a concept my son can easily understand.
