Things You May Not Know About Me: Episode 1

I've decided to do a series called Things You May Not Know About Me to help my readers learn more about me. So, without further ado, here's your first little tidbit. :)

I used to do ballet.

I took ballet for 13 years.
Not from a cutesie little studio, like many of my friends, who got to wear fun, glittery costumes and have "recitals."
No, I went to a professional studio, that had a "company," and we had "performances."
I had to wear a uniformed leotard and had lessons four times a week and on Saturdays.
It was the best.
I'm not going to say I was the best, but I loved it.
I also taught ballet to the little kiddos there.

It was awesome. But, then, in high school, I came to the realization that ballet wasn't going to pay for college, so I quit and focused my efforts on developing my French Horn skills. And thankfully, my scholarship for that did help pay for college.

And the weirdest thing of all, in my opinion, is that although I haven't taken ballet for over ten years, I still dream about being in the classes, the studio, and on stage at least once a month. I just dreamt about it last night, in fact, thus prompting this post.

  1. Oh my goodness, me too! I danced professionally as well...stopped right before college because I didn't like the competitive nature required for success...just too much, and it was starting to make me lose my love of dance.
I took some classes recently, and I was surprised about how much my body could still do, how much I still remembered, subconsciously even! Thanks for sharing these memories...glad you had that dream...do your toes hurt today? lol :)

  2. I would have never guessed! Are you going to try doing it again?
