Burkley's Birthday Party

We all had a blast at Burkley's first birthday party!
The theme was Dr. Seuss and we had a whimsical time!
So many of our wonderful friends and family came to help us celebrate.

Take a look...
(and- as far as photo-credit is concerned- I loaded my pics, my sister's, and my mom's all on to my computer after the party and they all got jumbled up, so I can't tell for sure whose are whose, but I think these are mostly my mom's and my sister's!)

Adorableness

Gifts! So thankful we got a lot of great stuff and were not overloaded with junk! Hooray! :)
Gifts!

Chili for lunch! Five kinds!

Frosting in the hair...classic!

A little Burkley shrine :)

He got an awesome train set!

More cake pics...we took a lot. ;)

I LOVE this picture- look at everyone photographing him! and look at him face-planting his cake!

My sis and her hubby, Dan, who has the same birthday as Burkley!

Burkley with his Aunt Lindsey

Family!

His mini 3-tiered cake

The big cake...we ended up not even cutting it...it took us HOURS to make this, but it was all for show, I guess! :) Don't worry- there was a different cake our guests ate.

There were quotes from this book all around the room.

"Bye, bye everyone! Thanks for coming!"

  1. Looks like you all had fun. Loved all the pictures, especially the frosting hair ones, so funny! What kind of cake did you make for Burkley?

  2. Oh! I meant to include that in this blog post-- I made this one from the Natural Parents Network site: http://naturalparentsnetwork.com/healthy-eating-and-living/#cake

If you click on the second listing; "Healthy First Birthday Cake Recipes," I did the first one on that page- the one with bananas and applesauce. However, we used regular frosting and it had food coloring, which I think was the source of a minor reaction he had later that day on his belly. :( But, the recipe was super easy and pretty tasty...the consistency of the cake was a little, um, rubbery?, (I made a few extra muffins out of the batter and gave those to my friend's 16 month old). :) He seemed to like it just fine!

  4. It looks like Burkley had a great day! The cakes are both impressive, but I like the pictures of him wearing the mini one best :) Beautiful work on the party!
