Swimmy Swimmy!

For those of you who know me, this might be stating the obvious: I LOVE SWIMMING.
I would literally go swimming every single day in the summer if I could.
There are weeks that I have done just that.
I love the pool.
There is nothing I'd rather do on a summer day than go to the pool and I get bummed out when a beautiful day passes me by during which I did not get to go to the pool.

Luckily for us, we have some friends of the family who own a pool---and get this---
We have carte blanche to use it anytime.
Not only that, but when we do come, though they're usually not home, and if they are, they will come out of their house to thank us for using the pool.
Seriously.
How awesome are they!??

Today I asked my husband if he wanted to come swimming with us. The conversation went something like this:
Me: Do you want come swimming with us?
Hubby: Me? No.
Me: Do you ever want to come swimming with us?
Hubby: You know I don't like swimming. The last thing I'd want to do with my time off is sit by a pool.
Me: That's fine, I just want you to know that you're always welcome to join us. So, I won't bug you and ask you to come every time we go.
Hubby: Sounds good.

...it just might be that our son has inherited this disinterest in swimming from his father. :/
I'm hoping he's just not old enough to understand how fun it is.
So far, every time we go, he's been rather...well...uninterested.
"Do I have to wear this hat, Mama?"

"Really, this is kind of boring. Can we go home now?"

"I'm not going to smile and I'm not having fun."

"Okay, one smile because I finally got that stinkin' hat off!"

"Mom, you might be having fun, but me...not so much."

Even Uncle Brandon (my bro) couldn't make him smile. :(

Snuggles with Mama? Nope....

Okay, finally, a little bit of happiness watching Uncle Brandon splash off the diving board.

Good grief! It's going to be a long summer if this kid won't enjoy the water.
We'll keep trying...
*sigh*

  1. Haha that conversation made me laugh. I am not huge on swimming, but if there is a game going on in the water it makes it more fun. Perhaps he just needs a floaty basketball hoop thing to entice him into the waters?

  2. My first two kids weren't into swimming at that age either. But my third became a competent swimmer before she was even 2 years old. (Competent, not olympic.)

Maybe Burkley finds the water a little cold? He'll get used to it as long as you keep trying.

    Love the pictures.
