Babyled Weaning: Listening to my Baby

One important facet of babyled weaning is listening to your baby's signs that he can or cannot tolerate a certain food.

I tend to be a little pushy in this area and am not such a good BLW Mommy when it comes to letting him decide what to eat.

The first morning that I tried giving him some applesauce, he made a face like he thought it was gross. The next morning, I tried to give him some again, he ate a few bites, but then threw up. About a week later (this morning) I tried to give him some again, thinking that it might help him have more regular bowel movements and plus, maybe today he would like it. Well, he ate it, though he did make an "icky" face. But, just now, as I laid him down for his nap, I noticed a rash on both of his cheeks.

Okay, I'm done pushing the applesauce. I guess he was trying to tell me that he didn't want it or couldn't handle it or has a sensitivity to it or something, so I will stop. Sorry, Buddy. :(

  1. OH NO! What a bummer! 'They' usually say to try things a few times, with days in between. Sometimes it takes a while for them to get used to a taste or texture! I've experienced this with both girls. You did good, mama. Hope his little rash goes away soon!

  2. This morning I gave Julian (11 months) some cut up banana, bluberries and grapes on the tray of his high chair. And don't ya know he managed to make a little pile of the bananas in the corner while eating all the grapes and blueberries? I think he's trying to tell me something.....
