What We've Been Up To...

We've been enjoying summer and keeping quite busy, which is why I haven't had much time for blogging!

Here are some of the things we've been enjoying:

Brotherly bonding

Snuggles with Daddy

A trip to the Peoria Zoo after Burkley's second trip to the allergist. We have determined that he has a fruit sensitivity, which is really a bummer. Have you ever tried to limit a toddler's fruit intake!? It's no fun at all, especially in the summer. Burkley is a good little eater and I hate not letting him have as much as he wants of the good stuff! But, we've learned the hard way that too much fruit (more than 3ish servings a day) leads to running-down-the-legs-wash-all-the-toys-in-the-room diarrhea. :(

I ran the Bix7, a local, but huge, 7 mile race for my second time. Had lots of fun with the bestie, Sarah. Our time was 1:28. We met our goal of finishing under an hour and a half!

Celebrating my birthday. I must say this is the first birthday I can recall wearing jeans and sweatshirts! We had a fun time with a firepit at my parents' house eating s'mores. Here's to being 30! (I'll try to blog more about that later).

Cadriel's growing like a weed and becoming alarmingly mobile. I can't believe how much this kid gets around at only four months.

Burkley's growing and changing so much. We've had a really easy few weeks with him and it feels like the "twos" are behind us. We're excited about starting a very low-key homeschool pre-school co-op with some local, like-minded parents in the fall. (Also a topic for another blogpost).

But for now, we're just enjoying what's left of the summer. We get to hang out with friends, play outside, swim, read, play, and attempt to accomplish housework and homework. I'm *this close* to finishing my certification to be a childbirth educator and am starting to teach again next week after taking a break that started back in November.

We're getting in a great groove as a family of four even though I do feel that now that Cadriel's getting older, it's harder to accomplish much around the house (yet another topic for yet another blogpost). All in all though, life is great! We are feeling very blessed.
