My Manic Mondays posts have been few and far between because this winter turned out to be hardly winter at all. We only had two or three snowfalls and it was rarely cold enough to warrant a day snuggled inside growing more and more bored by the minute as I anticipated.
However, lately, we've been having fun in some new ways. We've been using mixing bowls to play with various things! I put some water in two bowls, put the bowls on a cookie sheet, and put that on a towel. I gave him a spoon and let him play.

Here is signing "all done" because he was apparently done playing with the bowls.

So, I took the bowls away and just poured some water on the cookie sheet. He liked splashing it around.

The next week, I bought some dry pinto beans at the suggestion of my sister-in-law. I put them in the mixing bowl and gave him some measuring spoons and spatulas. Later, and this is not pictured, I gave him the tin pan leftover from a frozen pie crust and he loved dropping the beans into the tin pan and hearing the sound it made. We have actually really made use of this activity several times. He plays with the beans for almost an hour at a time (which is really the longest he's ever done anything!) and so we've pulled these out almost every day since we started this. He likes to pretend to eat them, but he usually just puts them up to his mouth, says "icky" and spits it out. He likes to scoop them, stir them, and even throw them. What great fun, tactile fun!
