Mama Drama

I've been thinking lately about Mommy Wars, Mama Drama, Mompetition, whatever you want to call it.
So irritating.
Recently I doled out some breastfeeding information/advice to a dear friend.
Because of our mutual respect for each other as moms, it was well-received.
She knew I was not telling her what to do or berating her decisions to feed her baby however she felt would be best.
She knew I was giving her research-based information and that I would respect however she decided to use that information. Why can't it always be like that?

Some may think this blog is a platform for me to spout off my views of how I think moms should parent.
Au contraire, as you may notice on the sidebar of my blog...this blog is for ME.
For me to reflect on how mommying works for me---my way (how I feel God has called me to mother).
I can't help but think of this blog as a baby-book of sorts. A place for me to look back and remember how I did things with my little baby and how I've grown and from where I've come. The bonus to this blog is that I've been able to connect with some other awesome mamas out there in blogland.

Every mom is mommying the best way they can. I respect that. As one of my friends recently said, if a mom out there is parenting in a way they know is wrong, then they'd better change!

So, if this blog has ever made you feel like I think I am superior to you or anything...
I just want to say: this blog is not about you.
It's about me.
How's that for selfish? :)

And how's this for cute?

  1. Did you get criticized for something that you wrote?

It always seems that when a mother writes about her personal experience, no matter how true and authentic it is, SOMEONE is out there to criticize her. I have learned not to take ownership when someone is offended by my truth. And often I speak the truth (of my own experiences) specificly to help normalize them in our culture.

Keep writing, Adrienne! I enjoy reading about your experiences. (And the picture of your son with the bubbles on his lips always makes me smile!)
